Mr. Nitin Shinde, India’s first qualified oenologist winemaker stepped into the arena of winemaking five years ago. Belonging to a family of farmers, his graduation in the field of Botany (B.Sc. Botany-University of Pune) enriched his knowledge furthermore in the field of his interest – wine making! This came easy owing to his rich background as an agriculturist.
Completing an in-depth study in Viticulture and Winemaking (Oenology), from Adelaide University, Australia, Mr. Nitin gained hands on experience working for Kangarilla Road winery in McLaren Vale, Adelaide, as an Assistant Winemaker; as a Quality Control Manager at Sakkonet Vineyards, Rhode Island, USA, and then for Sula Winery, Nashik, as an Assistant Winemaker and Quality Control Manager.
The completely natural, sophisticated, classic, regional Indian wine with a more delicate and complicated flavor brings in freshness to the entire experience, seducing the newly adventuresome Indian palate and wine lovers.

A wine connoisseur who enjoys educating his patrons about different varietals, Surabhi believes that “you learn, you acquire and you develop” the taste of wine.
With prodigious ability to make profound wines, they use only wine grapes, which they grow themselves, ensuring quality control right from the plantation step.
The quintessential need for winemaking is passion. And winemaker Nitin Shinde and Surabhi Shinde are working diligently towards making Deccan Plateau Wines a cornerstone of the Indian and global wine market, portraying every bit of their undying passion.
